Overview
D428 COLUMBIA Class Electrical Systems is looking for a highly motivated engineer to oversee the development and integration of internal and external cableways. The candidate will work closely with the cableways design organization to ensure platform requirements are met.
Cableways and their associated hangers provide a means of routing and securing cables throughout the submarine. These cables not only provide power to components but also are part of the information highway between systems.
Cableways engineers own the products from concept to 3D arrangement to detailed design. Additionally, cableways engineers support the shipyards by performing ship checks and responding to trade's problem reports.
This position requires interfacing with multiple organizations such as fluid systems, structural, ventilation, and the arrangement team while developing the cableway 3D model. Interfacing with additional organization such as the shipyard trades, purchasing, planning, and NAVSEA counterparts is required through development and construction.
Daily tasks and responsibilities may include:
Electric Boat offers Flexible Work Arrangements that allows some work to be performed remotely and at home. This varies from position to position based on the amount of classified material the department interacts with, as well as a few other variables. Please ask for more details on how it applies to this opening during discussions with the department.
