The Training Specialist I is responsible for and supporting the execution and documentation of training programs across the organization. This role ensures that training logistics, scheduling, communications, and records are handled efficiently to support operational readiness, compliance, and workforce development.


  • Collaborates with the Training Manager/Supervisor and Area Manager to align on training goals, fulfill operator-specific training requirements, and support ongoing training initiatives.
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive district training schedule based on workforce needs and compliance deadlines, leveraging LMS insights for proactive planning.
  • Coordinates employee enrollment in both in-house and external training programs, including promoting relevant courses to targeted groups and managing all associated logistics.
  • Partners with the Learning Strategy Team to ensure training records and activities are accurately documented and maintained within the LMS.
  • Coordinate logistics for in-person and virtual training, including venue booking, materials preparation, and system setup.
  • Prepare and maintain training documentation, dashboards, and reports.
  • Ensure LMS (Learning Management System) data is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Support continuous improvement by documenting lessons learned and identifying process improvements.
  • Assist with audits, compliance tracking, and training data reporting as required.
  • Delivers weekly compliance reports to the Specified District Management Team and field operations, using LMS data to provide visibility into training progress and gaps.

  • 5+ years of experience, preferably within a training, learning or similar profession.
  • Experience managing logistics, scheduling, and communications for multiple concurrent projects.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (e.g., SumTotal, Workday, Oracle).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of training compliance and regulatory requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Microsoft Teams and SharePoint preferred.
  • Knowledge of training compliance and regulatory requirements in oil & gas is a plus.
  • Project Management Certifications
  • 1-3 years experience within a training program
  • Previous experience with an oilfield related company

WRITTEN COMMUNICATION

  • Advanced writing skills, ability to write free of punctuation or grammatical errors. Clear, concise with the ability to write quickly, clearly and correctly. Targeted audience easily understands writing and is formatted correctly for the delivery method.

Must be able to use/wear applicable personal protective equipment which may include but is not limited to safety-toed foot wear (with ankle height support), back support belt, hearing protection, safety eye-wear with side shields, gloves and hard hat.
  • May occasionally be required to wear approved/applicable respiratory protection equipment (respiratory protection guidelines would apply with regard to medical evaluation and fit testing of equipment).
  • Frequent assent/decent of stairs/steps, especially at field locations. Must be able to respond quickly to an emergency situation.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, field locations may be at a high level whereby appropriate hearing protection may be required.

  • Field locations may range in temperature of below zero (0) to above one hundred (100) degrees, depending upon time of year, with varying levels of humidity.
  • Field locations may be dusty, wet, or muddy depending upon weather conditions.
