Role Overview
We are seeking a senior-level Data Engineer to lead the design and maintenance of a high-performance Medicaid Data Warehouse built on AWS infrastructure. You will develop robust ETL pipelines, manage large-scale data transformation tasks using IBM DataStage, and support reporting teams by ensuring timely, accurate, and secure data delivery for analytics platforms such as Cognos.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in complex healthcare data environments and is experienced in building cloud-native data systems.
Key Responsibilities
<> ETL & Pipeline Development</>
Design and implement ETL jobs using IBM DataStage for ingesting and transforming Medicaid-related datasets
Develop batch and incremental data flows to populate DB2 Warehouse targets
Support data transformation logic to meet reporting needs and business rules
<> Data Modeling & BI Integration</>
Partner with BI teams to design schemas that support Cognos reporting
Support data profiling, validation, and cleansing to ensure trust in data quality
Maintain metadata and technical documentation for all pipeline processes
<> AWS Integration</>
Leverage AWS services (e.g., S3, Glue, Lambda, CloudWatch) for data processing and automation
Support cloud data architecture and ensure performance tuning, scaling, and security
<> Testing, Compliance & Support</>
Ensure ETL solutions meet HIPAA and Medicaid data security guidelines
Monitor job performance and perform root-cause analysis when issues arise
Maintain version control and job promotion through DEV/TEST/PROD environments
Required Skills & Qualifications
7+ years of experience in Data Engineering, ETL development, or Data Warehousing
Hands-on expertise with IBM DataStage (or comparable ETL tools)
Strong command of DB2 Warehouse, including complex SQL, stored procedures, and schema design
Proficiency with AWS services used in data engineering (S3, Glue, Lambda, CloudWatch)
Familiarity with Cognos or other BI platforms for data support
Solid grasp of data governance, compliance (HIPAA), and metadata management
Experience in data profiling, quality checks, and performance tuning
Bonus: Knowledge of Python or shell scripting for orchestration
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with Medicaid data and warehouses
AWS Certifications (e.g., Data Analytics Specialty, Solutions Architect Associate)
IBM DataStage Certification
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools like Jira/Confluence
Soft Skills
