Position Title: Lead Systems Engineer

Location: Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO

Travel Required: Up to 10% of the time

Description of Duties:

The Lead Systems Engineer supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:
Establish, implement, and continuously refine the Systems Engineering program, aligning with organizational strategy and enterprise governance.
Serve as the technical authority for SE practices and act as the primary SE interface with senior leadership, program managers, and enterprise governance boards.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and process improvement across the SE team.
Matrix manage a team of systems engineers assigned to multiple projects.
Provide ongoing technical mentoring, performance feedback, and professional development to build team capability.
Facilitate knowledge sharing, peer reviews, and skill-building workshops.
Oversee SE support for projects, ensuring requirements, design, and verification activities are properly executed and traceable to operational needs.
Work with project managers, engineers, CM analysts and stakeholders to integrate SE practices into design and delivery.
Establish metrics and KPIs to evaluate SE program effectiveness and efficiency.
Integrate SE practices with organizational quality management and configuration management frameworks.

The successful candidate will:
Have strong leadership skills with proven ability to mentor and develop engineers.
Have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence across organizational boundaries.

Basic Requirements:
Must have 12, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience
Must have 8, or more, years of relevant systems engineering experience
Must have 2, or more, years in a lead or supervisory role.
Must have demonstrated experience with full lifecycle SE practices, including requirements, architecture, integration, verification, and validation.
Must have experience developing SE governance frameworks and process documentation.
Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Requirements:
Have experience supporting facilities projects (e.g., building systems, utilities, infrastructure, or related domains).
Have experience implementing Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) for facilities or infrastructure projects.
Have knowledge of DoDAF, SysML, or other architecture frameworks and modeling languages.
Be familiar with organizational change management in technical environments.
Have experience with metrics-driven program improvement and data-informed decision-making.

This position is expected to pay $120,000 - $145,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
