Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc., is hiring an MTS Software Development Eng. to Research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Plan, design, develop and/or test software systems for software enhancements and new products. Set operational specifications and formulate and/or analyze software requirements. Development, debug, bring up, and performance tuning of new graphics hardware running on Microsoft Windows Operating Systems. Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance. Debug low level hardware and operating system functionality. Exercise wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments. Participate in code reviews, creating unit tests, authoring detailed documentation related to your work, and working with on-site and offshore teams to deliver the software solutions on schedule. Partake in all phases of the software development including system requirements analysis, coordinating feature design and development across functional and organization boundaries. Utilize expertise with computers and electronics, including computer hardware and software, applications, and programming, as well as knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Qualifications: Degree required

Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Three (3) years of experience in job offered or closely related engineering role.

Alternate combination of education and experience: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, and five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

Position requires three (3) years of experience in the following;
  • Developing software solutions for gaming or computer applications;
  • Modifying software and adapting to hardware changes;
  • Pre-silicon programming in C, C++, or Python;
  • Developing DirectX or Direct3D drivers;
  • GPU programming and object oriented design;
  • Low-level device drivers (Vulkan);
  • Code optimization using the GPU;
  • 3D pipeline and 3D graphics; and
  • Data structures and open source software development.
