About data at Headway
Building a new mental healthcare system at Headway is only possible because of the insights and leverage that data can provide. The data team at Headway is a small but mighty team designing the infrastructure, implementing pipelines, and driving the analytics and insights to build the mental healthcare system of the future (and have a fun time while doing it!). The Data team collaborates deeply with partner teams across the company to identify and drive areas for operational improvement, unlock key insights through infrastructure and data visibility, educate the company on data and how to become more data-driven, and uses technical expertise and science to solve the mental healthcare industry's most challenging problems.
Functions of data at headway:
We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our growing team and help drive our science and ML efforts at Headway. As an early member and leader, you will own key outcomes that involve the use of machine learning and data science. You will be responsible for bridging the gap between Data and Engineering to provide ML based solutions for Headway. You will also help shape the infrastructure that powers our ML solutions, and help shape the culture along the way. If you are a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity and challenging problems, excited about building a data-driven culture, and motivated by making an impact, then you will be a good fit for this role.
Responsibilities:
Find opportunities to improve and enhance our technology products, and translate ambiguous business requirements into the right ML solutionResearch prior work to inform and develop models and algorithms and quantify appropriate metrics & targetsLead research, development, and production deployment of machine learning solutions that support our patients, providers and insurance payers. Solve difficult data analysis problems by applying advanced analytical methods as neededCommunicate findings to technical collaborators and business stakeholders

What will make you successful:
- PhD (OR Master's Degree plus 3+ years of industry or academic research experience) in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application
- Demonstrable work experience on models that have been deployed into production systems (strategic, planning, and/or operational, and other applicable areas)
- Experience in writing scripts (Python) and/or software applications in programming languages such as C++, Java
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences

Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary information is based on a single salary target per role:
- The starting salary for a Senior Data Scientist is $195,500 based on industry tenure and experience.
