Job Description

Seeking a Senior Java Backend Software Engineer to join the team developing the mission-critical systems that power modern financial operations. In this hybrid role, you ll be part of a collaborative engineering group that builds both internal systems and client-facing applications supporting core financial workflows from cash management and trade settlement to regulatory reporting and corporate actions.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on impactful systems that improve the performance, reliability, and automation of financial services.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional Java development experience, or similar object-oriented programming.
  • Strong understanding of OOP, n-tier application architecture, and design patterns.
  • Experience with server-side programming, preferably Java/JEE or C++.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and message-oriented systems.
  • Experience with relational databases (Oracle preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with application servers such as JBoss.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex systems and resolve production issues effectively.
  • A desire to work in a fast-paced, highly automated, continuous integration/deployment environment.
  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust backend systems and tools using Java or similar object-oriented technologies.
  • Build highly scalable and reliable applications that meet business and user requirements.
  • Work on projects involving financial transactions such as trade settlement, IPO processing, client statements, and clearing operations.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing (unit/integration), and debugging to ensure quality and performance.
  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, and QA teams across the full software development lifecycle.
  • Continuously improve existing systems through refactoring, automation, and innovation.
  • Create comprehensive documentation and contribute to deployment and release activities.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices; apply them to improve our platforms.
  • Provide user support and occasional training related to internal tools and applications.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with financial instruments or brokerage operations.
  • Knowledge of job scheduling, security frameworks, build/release tools.
  • Exposure to internal tooling development or system automation.
  • Experience in batch processing and web-based management consoles.
