Job Description
We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) Specialist to be part of our dynamic team in supporting Web Content Management Systems (WCMS) for a federal client. The QA/QC Specialist will be responsible for planning, designing, executing, and overseeing all aspects of quality assurance and quality control throughout the software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in both proactive QA methodologies and reactive QC verification, ensuring that all deployments meet and exceed functional, performance, and quality standards. The incumbent will perform manual and automated testing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in functional and regression testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and discovery and audit activities within Drupal environments.
The QA/QC Specialist will assist in delivering innovative solutions for improving the effectiveness, reach, and content of the website. Our team creates, migrates, tests, implements, sustains, expands, and improves static and dynamic content to a Drupal based site, including integration with other internal and external sources. The incumbent will work collaboratively with the team to best realize system requirements and implement these solutions to create a compelling experience for users.
The successful candidate will (1) demonstrate a genuine passion for quality assurance and quality control, consistently advocating for excellence at every stage of the development lifecycle and inspiring a culture of continuous improvement, (2) possess a strong understanding of modern QA/QC methodologies, emerging industry trends, and hands-on experience with leading tools such as Selenium, Behat, JMeter, Postman, Cypress, and PHPUnit, and (3) approach testing with a proactive mindset, leveraging critical thinking and meticulous attention to detail to anticipate issues, validate solutions, and deliver measurable improvements in system performance and user experience.
Responsibilities
- Quality Assurance (QA) Duties
- Assist in the design and execution of comprehensive testing strategies for each deployment to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Provide support for testing Drupal CMS features and functionality developed throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate in the creation of detailed test plans that define testing strategies, objectives, resources, schedule, and deliverables.
- Develop, maintain, and execute functional, regression, and UAT scripts to validate software functionality and end-user requirements.
- Assist in performing system discovery and audit tasks to ensure compliance with standards, policies, and best practices.
- Quality Control (QC) Duties
- Execute test cases, log defects, track resolution progress, and ensure corrective actions are taken before release.
- Validate that products and functionalities meet the design specifications and intended business outcomes through rigorous verification processes.
- Ensure adherence to coding standards, system requirements, and organizational quality frameworks through consistent QC activities.
- Generate and maintain detailed defect reports, test summary reports, and corrective action plans based on testing outcomes.
- Complete additional duties related to the areas of quality assurance and quality control, as assigned.
- Collaborate with developers, content strategists and designers, project managers, and business owners to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Perform quality checks by spotting small defects and inconsistencies that could affect product quality
- Understand the minimum acceptable quality level for a product.
- Ensure core functionalities work seamlessly across different devices and platforms
- Enact policies, procedures and methods to check product, material, components and/or operational quality
Qualifications
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust
- Bachelor's degree in technical discipline, or a related field (7-10 years of relevant work experience may also be used in lieu of a college degree)
- 2+ years of professional experience in quality assurance and/or quality control roles, preferably within Drupal CMS environments (Drupal versions 8, 9, or 10)
- Demonstrate experience or strong familiarity with the following tools and frameworks:
- Automated Testing: Selenium, Cypress, Nightwatch
- Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) Testing: Behat
- Performance Testing: JMeter
- API Testing: Postman, SoapUI
- Unit Testing: PHPUnit
- Code Quality and Static Analysis: GrumPHP
- Strong understanding of Agile development methodologies and QA/QC best practices.
- Outstanding attention to detail with excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly document issues and solutions.
- Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and take on additional parallel assignments
- Ability to work with team members to create an effective test
- Attend meetings to discuss the status of assigned deliverables and communicate estimates and changes in scope/estimation
- Provide technical writing and expertise for ongoing documentation (e.g., Confluence).
- Ability to work as part of a project team as well as independently
- Professional and courteous demeanor with strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively at all levels of the organization
Additional Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of Drupal CMS architecture, modules, and theming practices.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards such as WCAG and Section 508.
- Experience with bug tracking and test management tools (e.g., JIRA).
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices related to testing and release management.
Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; ability to obtain an SSA Public Trust clearance is required.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $50,000 - $70,000 (Compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, skills, education, certifications, seniority, and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.)
