Job Description:

SMBC is seeking a talented and experienced Cassandra Database Administrator (DBA) to join our growing team supporting mission-critical data infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have 5 6 years of hands-on experience managing Cassandra clusters in production environments, with an emphasis on performance, scalability, and availability. Experience with MongoDB is a strong plus.

You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of Cassandra databases supporting enterprise-scale applications in a highly regulated financial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Cassandra database clusters across production and non-production environments
  • Monitor and optimize system performance, replication, and query performance
  • Perform capacity planning and implement backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Work closely with development and DevOps teams to support application performance and reliability
  • Conduct routine database maintenance, patching, upgrades, and tuning
  • Troubleshoot complex issues related to database availability, data integrity, and system performance
  • Document database procedures, policies, and best practices
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal security standards

Qualifications:

  • 5 6 years of hands-on experience as a Cassandra DBA in production environments
  • Strong understanding of Cassandra internals, replication, consistency levels, and data modeling
  • Proficiency with CQL (Cassandra Query Language)
  • Experience with performance tuning and troubleshooting distributed databases
  • Familiarity with Linux-based systems and scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python)
  • MongoDB experience is a plus
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments (e.g., financial services) preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or DataStax OpsCenter
  • Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
