Description

SAIC has a need for a Radar Payload Systems Engineer to provide onsite systems engineering and technical advisory services (SETA) in a dynamic System Program Office (SPO) supporting a Government customer with multiple satellite systems, both on-orbit and in development. This position will primarily support the design, development, manufacturing, assembly, and integration and test activities for Radar payloads for a major satellite program.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Acts as an advisor and provides technical support to the government.
  • Recognized as a radar subject matter expert, specifically in the areas of Synthetic Aperture Radar, Space Time Processing, and Moving Target Indication.
  • Supports the SPO in a technical capacity for planning, execution, monitoring, and oversight of Radar payload systems development and acquisition.
  • Applies advanced technologies, scientific principles, theories and concepts to develop novel radar system solutions.
  • Develops and maintains an in-depth understanding of system level requirements for assigned systems and the design features that satisfy these requirements.
  • Oversees design and development of Radar payload systems and components.
  • Assists the government in developing concept of operations (CONOPS) and approaches for radar systems.
  • Leads and prepares trade studies, system sensitivity studies, design optimization studies, system performance assessments, and system design assessments.
  • Ensures research and development (R&D) efforts are planned and conducted on sound engineering practices including management of technical risks.
  • Providing oversight of acquisitions, with specific focus on the Radar payload systems elements, functionality, interfaces, manufacture, build, test, and operations to ensure end-to-end system closure and satisfaction of mission requirements.
  • Develops documents and briefings to communicate work status, briefs government and industry as required.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD and nine (9) years or more experience.
  • Experience with radar system design, operations, and data processing.
  • Experience with space systems design, development, manufacturing, and testing.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, team building and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to be effective in a government/contractor team environment.
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivation.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience as a SETA or satellite developer preferred.
  • TS/SCI with polygraph required.
