Overview: The Client is seeking an IT Technology Acquisition Specialist to support the procurement of technology products and services. This role will assist in evaluating vendors, ensuring cost-effectiveness, and aligning acquisitions with strategic goals. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of the technology market, trends, and products, combined with analytical, administrative, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor technology industry trends and innovations to support specification development.
  • Conduct technology-focused studies, gather and analyze data, evaluate alternatives, prepare reports, and make recommendations for Executive Leadership.
  • Research and evaluate technology options to support countywide IT needs.
  • Assess and recommend best-value products and services for Client stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain vendor and supplier relationships as well as internal stakeholder collaboration.
  • Ensure compliance with Client purchasing policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Utilize procurement systems (e.g., Ivanti, ProSys, Filenet) to track and ensure timely delivery of technology services and products.
  • Facilitate the Technology Acquisition Request (TAR) process and follow internal approval workflows.
  • Manage the full acquisition lifecycle for all purchased items and services.
  • Identify and escalate potential procurement issues as necessary.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of:
  • Public-sector purchasing principles, practices, and methods.
  • IT hardware, software, and emerging technologies.
  • Technology acquisition practices and industry trends.
  • Policies, laws, and regulations applicable to technology procurement.
  • Financial and contract record-keeping.
  • Applied mathematics in purchasing and cost analysis.
  • Ability to:
  • Gather, evaluate, and analyze data for decision-making.
  • Problem-solve and manage procurement challenges effectively.
  • Communicate clearly in both oral and written formats.
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Stay organized, manage time effectively, and maintain accurate records.
  • Accept responsibility and learn new skills while on the job.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Equivalent to three (3) years of full-time professional purchasing experience, including:
    • Managing the full acquisition lifecycle.
    • Developing and preparing contracts, specifications, and cost analysis.
    • Preferred: Experience with IT hardware and software procurement.
