Senior Technical Writer

Job Description:

• The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating professional technical project and user documentation, including systems and operational procedures.
• The role requires experience with a wide range of technical writing methods, tools, and techniques, and the ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Create professional technical project and user documentation, including systems and operational procedures.
• Apply a wide range of technical writing methods, tools, and techniques, following industry standards and best practices.
• Develop online documentation and ensure accessibility compliance.
• Work with at least one platform and be familiar with communications protocols.
• Use tools for the creation, distribution, and maintenance of project and user documentation.
• Communicate with cross-functional teams (development, business, testers) and various audiences.
• Create quick start guides covering main user steps.
• Create detailed configuration/administrative guides covering all necessary details.
• Create glossaries or lists of terms and definitions.
• Use office automation suites, presentation tools, and at least one authoring package.
• Meet deadlines and work effectively as part of a team.

• Strong knowledge and experience with documentation tasks for Azure cloud architecture and infrastructure design, including networking, firewall, storage, backup, and disaster recovery design.
• Experience creating and editing technical project documents, including architecture artefacts, based on existing systems or design concepts from senior team members.
• Skilled at using standard technical writing tools such as Power XXgner, Microsoft Visio, UML, and/or Adobe Technical Communication Suite.

Technical Skills 60%:

• Strong knowledge and experience with documentation tasks for Azure cloud architecture and infrastructure design, including networking, firewall, storage, backup, and disaster recovery design.
• Strong knowledge and experience with documentation tasks for large-scale Java EE application design concepts such as security, scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Experience creating and editing technical project documents, including architecture artefacts, based on existing systems or design concepts from senior team members.
• Experience with a wide range of technical writing methods, tools, and techniques, and knowledge of industry and government standards and best practices.
• Ability to create glossaries or lists of terms and definitions.
• Experience with office automation suites, presentation tools, and at least one authoring package.
• Skilled at using Power XXgner, Microsoft Visio, UML, and/or Adobe Technical Communication Suite.
• Experience creating content and graphics for end-user administration, installation, configuration guides, and online help.
• Knowledge and experience preparing conceptual, logical, and/or physical process documents.
• Ability to validate technical documentation to align with product functionality.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate with cross-functional teams (development, architecture, business, testing) and diverse audiences.
• A team player with a record of learning new concepts quickly, following guidance, and meeting deadlines.

• Experience in the Public Sector, either as a vendor representative or under contract to a government ministry or agency.

• Knowledge, understanding, and experience in publishing content on websites.
• Strong interviewing and listening skills to capture necessary information.
• Ability to learn and work with new graphic tools as required.
• Ability to create feedback forms/tools to gather information from users.
• Experience creating content and graphics for conceptual, procedural, and reference information in end-user guides and online help.
