This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, MI three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Role
General Motors (GM) is seeking an Application Engineer with strong Teamcenter expertise, specifically in Manufacturing Process Planning (MPP) and Active Workspace (AW) EasyPlan (EP), to support Advanced Manufacturing and Product Engineering workflows within the General Assembly group of the Global Manufacturing Engineering team.
In this role, you'll use MPP/EP tools in the GM Teamcenter environment to drive collaboration across Manufacturing Engineering, Product Development, and Operations. Key responsibilities include developing standards, applying them to real-world use cases, and promoting user adoption across a global user base.

- Provide technical guidance and troubleshoot MPP/EP issues.
- Collaborate with GM IT, product development, and Siemens to test updates and ensure alignment with standard practices.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
- Partner with user groups to understand future strategies, requirements, and use cases, ensuring MPP/EP practices align with their needs.
- Develop standardized, efficient, and sustainable workflows using MPP/EP.
- Leverage Siemens tools (Process Simulate, TC Vis, Line Designer, TcAE) to build and validate MPP/EP standards.
- Build and Maintain data structures using MPP/EP to support the needs of product program teams
- Refine solutions through cross-functional feedback.
- Coordinate change requests with GM IT to enhance MPP/EP workflows.
- Support global MPP/EP training initiatives.
- Evaluate and recommend MPP/EP updates to GM IT, Siemens, leadership, and global teams.
- Assist in global deployment of MPP/EP updates and standard practices.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in a job related field
- 3 years' experience using math-based tools to analyze product development against manufacturing requirements
- Domain specialist in MPP, AW, and EP with 3 years' experience developing standards and solutions
- 3 years' experience in Manufacturing Engineering within General Assembly (automotive or equivalent), using math-based tools
- Strong Siemens Teamcenter skills: NX, Process Simulate, TC Visualization, Line Designer
- Proficient in Teamcenter navigation, math data structures, and both Rich Client and Active Workspace environments
- Familiar with Ergonomics, Industrial Engineering, and Product Development practices in a manufacturing context
- Effective in fast-paced, evolving environments; adaptable to global teams and occasional weekend deployments
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Skilled at influencing adoption of new work practices over legacy methods
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred qualifications)
- Skilled in IT tools including Oracle Database, SharePoint, Mendix, Slack, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Databricks
- Proficient in programming: Python, JavaScript, VBA, SQL, and basic scripting
- 3 years of experience in manufacturing operations (assembly)
- 3 years of experience in tooling development and installation
