Chief Technology Officer (CTO) / AI Architect AI Agents & Autonomous Systems

Location: [Remote]

Employment Type: Equity

Reports To: CEO / Board of Directors

About the Role:

We are seeking a visionary CTO or AI Architect to lead the design, development, and deployment of AI Agent-based systems that redefine autonomy, intelligence, and digital interaction. This role blends deep technical expertise with strategic leadership to build infrastructure and platforms for next-generation autonomous agents, LLM orchestration, and intelligent automation across dynamic, real-world environments.

As a technology leader, you ll set the roadmap and architectural direction for AI agent frameworks that integrate perception, reasoning, memory, planning, and tool use paving the way for scalable, safe, and explainable AI systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy & Leadership:

  • Define and execute the AI and agent architecture vision, from prototypes to production-grade systems.
  • Lead and mentor multidisciplinary engineering, ML, and research teams.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on GTM strategy, tech stack decisions, hiring, and product roadmap.
  • Champion agentic AI as a core platform capability from single-agent assistants to multi-agent systems.

Architecture & Innovation:

  • Architect modular, extensible, and secure agent platforms capable of:
  • Tool use and API interaction
  • Long/short-term memory (vector DBs, graph memory, episodic)
  • Dynamic task planning and adaptive behavior
  • Multi-agent collaboration and orchestration
  • Design scalable backend systems for AI orchestration, integrating with cloud infrastructure, APIs, and real-time data streams.
  • Define policies and infrastructure for agent monitoring, feedback, and alignment with human goals and compliance.

Technical Execution:

  • Evaluate and integrate LLMs (GPT, Claude, Mistral, open-source) into agentic workflows using LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, ReAct, or custom stacks.
  • Lead development of AI copilots, autonomous agents, or AI-native applications across verticals like R&D, finance, web3, or operations.
  • Define and implement best practices for prompt engineering, memory management, sandboxing, and ethical guardrails.
  • Oversee MLOps, observability, and performance tuning for agent behavior.

Requirements:

Technical Expertise:

  • 7+ years in AI/ML systems, with at least 2+ years leading architecture or technical strategy.
  • Hands-on experience with agent frameworks: LangChain, AutoGen, ReAct, CrewAI, BabyAGI, etc.
  • Strong foundation in LLMs, NLP, transformers, tool augmentation, and vector search.
  • Fluency in Python and ML/AI toolkits (e.g., PyTorch, Hugging Face, Ray).
  • Experience with cloud-native architecture (e.g., AWS/Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, serverless stacks).

Strategic Thinking:

  • Proven ability to scale technical vision to execution prototypes to product.
  • Experience in evaluating and aligning emerging technologies (e.g., web3, IoT, blockchain, or quantum-secure systems) with agent use cases.
  • Familiarity with AI safety, governance, and interpretability frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Published work, patents, or open-source contributions related to AI Agents or cognitive architectures.
  • Experience with spatial computing, robotics, or embodied AI agents.
  • Background in real-time, multi-agent environments or simulation platforms (e.g., Unity, Unreal, MATSim).
  • Knowledge of decentralized compute, edge intelligence, or zero-trust agent design.
