Lake County Enterprise Information Technology is seeking an experienced Network Administrator to join the Infrastructure Team.

The Network Administrator is responsible for daily support, monitoring and maintenance of enterprise network equipment and systems as well as Level 2 network trouble ticket escalations. Work is performed in a customer service unit where teamwork and customer relations are paramount, creating a positive customer support experience and building strong relationships within the various departments of the County as well as within the Infrastructure team.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform maintenance to keep hardware and software to current standards.
  • Participate in planning and designing of local and wide area networks.
  • Ensure LAN/WAN environment is secure and appropriate recovery and redundancy issues are addressed according to established procedures.
  • Monitor network performance, identify problems and trends, and recommend corrective actions to maximize network uptime.
  • Perform detailed root cause analysis on network issues.
  • Develop and maintain network diagrams and documentation.
  • Develop technical documentation and cross-train team members.
  • Collaborate with other team members on projects.
  • Stay current with new and emerging technologies.
  • Willingness to travel to support projects, initiatives, etc.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and be available outside normal working hours when needed.

Education Requirements:

  • Candidates should have 3-5 years progressive IT experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure both on premise and cloud.
  • Cisco certifications (CCST, CCNA, CCNP) are a plus.
  • Cisco firewall experience (Firepower/FMC) is a plus.
