Job Details
Role: Workday Extend Architect
Location: Pennsylvania, PA (Onsite)
Key responsibilities:
Workday Extend Architect is responsible for the following:
Custom application development: Design, build, and deploy new applications using the Workday Extend platform to meet specific business requirements.
Requirements analysis: Collaborate with business stakeholders in human resources to gather and document technical requirements for new features and applications.
Technical design: Translate business needs into detailed technical specifications and architectural designs for Extend applications.
Integration management: Build, maintain, and troubleshoot integrations between Workday Extend applications, Workday modules, and external systems using Workday's APIs and other integration tools.
Quality assurance: Perform comprehensive unit testing, support user acceptance testing (UAT), and troubleshoot issues to ensure the reliability and quality of all solutions.
Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, such as design specifications, integration guides, and test plans.
Technical support: Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and bug fixes for deployed Extend applications and integrations.
Continuous improvement: Stay up-to-date with Workday's product releases and new Extend capabilities to recommend and implement process improvements.
Required qualifications
Experience: 6+ years of experience with the Workday platform, including significant hands-on development experience with Workday Extend 2+ years. Prior experience with Workday integrations is also critical.
Technical skills:
o Proficiency with Workday development and integration tools, including Extend, Workday Studio, Orchestrate, EIBs, and Report as a Service (RaaS).
o Expertise in web service technologies (REST and SOAP) and related data formats like XML, JSON, and XSLT.
o Familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts and languages like JavaScript or Python.
o A strong understanding of the complete software development lifecycle (SDLC).
Workday knowledge:
o Solid understanding of Workday's data model, business process framework, and security models.
o Functional knowledge of core Workday modules, such as Human Capital Management (HCM).
Certifications: Workday certifications in Extend and Integrations are preferred.

In addition to technical expertise, Workday Extend developer must possess strong interpersonal skills:
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.
