Role Summary
This role is primarily focused on advancing the team beyond manual processes and Excel-based reporting by leveraging the Microsoft Power Platform for automation and advanced visualization. The successful candidate will act as the resident expert in defining and automating the measurement of key control metrics to provide executive leadership with a clear, consolidated view of risk posture.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
This role will be centered on development, process improvement, and strategic reporting, with approximately 60% focused on technical development/automation and 40% focused on metric definition and analysis.
Digital Solutions & Automation (Primary Focus)
Process Automation: Identify current manual business processes (e.g., email-based handoffs) and design, develop, and deploy Power Automate flows and Power Apps to replace them with self-service, automated solutions.
Data Preparation: Utilize Power Query as a key technical tool to prepare, shape, and transform data streams necessary for advanced reporting and integration into automation flows.
Proactive Improvement: Maintain a curious, proactive, and solutions-oriented mindset to continuously seek out new automation, self-service tools, and efficiency opportunities beyond the initial scope.
Business Intelligence & Reporting
Dashboard Development: Design and build visually clear, user-friendly Power BI dashboards that consolidate and present complex information from multiple risk assessments, moving reporting away from static Excel files.
Metric Definition: Collaborate with stakeholders to define and maintain meaningful control metrics following risk and control assessments; these metrics will be the core data published to the new dashboards.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Experience: 5-7 years of demonstrable, hands-on experience in a development or highly technical Business Intelligence role. (8-10 years is preferred).
Technical Proficiency (MUST-HAVE): Proven expertise and development experience across the Microsoft Power Platform, including:
Power BI (must be able to develop and publish complex, multi-view dashboards).
Power Query (non-negotiable for data preparation).
Power Automate / Power Apps (proven track record in building automated flows or apps).
Data Skills: Working knowledge of SQL to effectively partner and communicate with enterprise data and analytics teams.
Background: Candidates with an IT or analytics professional background are highly encouraged to apply. Banking/FS experience is a huge plus
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in the Banking or Financial Services (FS) sector.
Familiarity with risk and control assessment processes or related data environments.
