The Role
As a Senior Staff Product Manager for Model Training , you will define and drive our ecosystem of technical solutions for large scale model training to drive the advancement of autonomou s vehicle solutions. This role will own the roadmap for how we prepare, track, and manage our model training work to maximize productivity and efficiency. This role requires collaboration with data scientists, engineers, and stakeholders, as well as a deep understanding of the ML lifecycle, from data acquisition and training to performance evaluation and deployment.

Success requires strong technical judgment, principled decision-making, and the ability to build alignment across engineering, infrastructure, and finance teams. You should be comfortable navigating ambiguity, making tough tradeoffs , and translating business needs into engineering priorities .

What You'll Do

  • Own the long-term product vision and roadmap for model training systems across GM's autonomous vehicle platform, balancing engineering constraints, business needs, and data fidelity requirements.


  • Define strategies for how we address the different stages of ML training workflow


  • Proactively identify gaps and tradeoffs in system performance, data throughput, developer productivity , and lead initiatives to improve observability, efficiency, and control.


  • Drive a metrics-driven approach to decision-making by defining KPIs for training effectiveness, developer productivity, and cost efficiency.


Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • 5+ years product manage ment experience


  • Proven ability to balance tradeoffs between consumer needs and
    expectations, legal and regulatory requirements, and business objectives .


  • Experience developing solutions to hard problems with many constraints,
    using sound judgement to assess risks, and to lay out your argument in a
    well-structured, data-informed, written narrative.


  • Demonstrated expertise in writing, with the ability to effectively balance and
    integrate regulatory , privacy, and engineering user perspectives to ensure clear requirements for data logging .


  • Ability to identify key data and metrics required to make decisions and
    implications of their movement.


  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to articulate
    complex concepts to all stakeholders.


  • Demonstrated expertise in writing, with the ability to effectively balance and integrate vision, strategy, and technical details in a cohesive narrative.

Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.
  • The salary range for this role is $234,000 - $358,000. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.


Company vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, though which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.
