SAIC is looking for a Mechanical Engineer Associate to support the US Navy in Crane, IN.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provide test and evaluation support for Abusive and non-abusive battery tests. Batteries include: Nickel-Cadmium (Ni-CD), Lead-Acid, Nickel-Zinc (Ni-ZN), Silver-Zinc (Ag-ZN), Lithium primary, and Lithium-Ion (Li-ion) type batteries. This includes hardware design and repair, calibration support, Standard Operating Procedure, and Operation, Maintenance & Supply support. Provide technical publications and specification sheets, engineering analysis of the operation and capabilities of Silver Zinc batteries, battery systems, and supporting system equipment.
Support testing occasionally when safety related issues arise, such as power outages, after normal work hours and on the weekends.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with engineering investigations of battery systems, which may include disassembly of the battery system and cell dissection
- Attend conferences directly related to this support
- Provide logistics management of test assets, test data, and equipment, and attend production board meetings and weekly engineering meetings
- Develops static and dynamic design and analysis of mechanical systems, equipment and packages
- Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs
- Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication
- Provide data analysis, develop risk and hazard assessments, and write supporting test reports
- Provide test system software programming, operations, and troubleshooting support, develop and maintain databases
- Develop and write SOPs, Supplemental Documents (SDs), and Test Plans (TPs) for battery testing. Lead Technical Readiness Reviews(TRRs) for test projects
- Act as a project representative and report data, results, and analysis for batteries, battery modules, battery cells, battery chargers, battery management systems, battery electrical safety devices, and test equipment
- Give presentations on test results and write peer-reviewed test reports and interim reports
- As Project Representative, coordinate test site set-up and tear down, performance testing, test evaluation and quality assurance support
- Provide logistic support for acquisition plans to maintain mission critical test operations within the government laboratories, such as but not limited to battery connectors, resistors, capacitors, pumps, wire, lugs, etc.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE:
- Bachelor's degree and zero (0) years or more experience
- Interim secret required to start with the ability to obtain a secret clearance. SAIC will sponsor the clearance process
