Job Title: Sr. PostgreSQL Data Engineer / Development DBA
Work Location: 100% remote in the US (working EST Hours)
Compensation Range: $150,000 - $170,000 / year + benefits
Start Date: October 2025 (2 weeks from offer acceptance)
ABOUT OUR CLIENT / ABOUT THIS ROLE
Medix is currently seeking a PostgreSQL Development DBA / Data Engineer for a full-time / direct hire opportunity with our Health System Client, located on the East Coast. With 13 operational hospitals and 30,000 employees, our client is an established network of care for over 1 million patients each year.
This role will be joining the centralized data team as the Senior-most Engineer focused on PostgreSQL Performance Tuning and Optimization. We are seeking individuals who had a minimum of 10 years experience, and a subject matter expertise in PostgreSQL Development DBA work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working in a Development DBA capacity, and partnering closely with Application Development teams
- Providing dedicated PostgreSQL indexing and performance tuning expertise
- Optimizing PostgreSQL queries, stored procedures, and database processes to keep applications running smoothly.
- Optimizing queries, stored procedures, and supporting structures
- Conducting PostgresSQL query performance, ensuring clean backend data to avoid bottlenecks.
- Working extensively with Foreign Data Wrappers (FDW) to access data stored in disparate external servers.
- Supporting data masking and data security posture management / data usage tracking
- Supporting audit logging requirements for HIPAA-compliant applications.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Must have 10+ years of professional experience
- Must have expert-level knowledge and skills with PostgreSQL - as a Development DBA
- Expertise in PL/pgsql queries and PostgreSQL EXPLAIN statements
- Prior experience with HIPAA / HITRUST environments a plus
