Job Title: Senior DevOps Engineer Azure-First

Role Summary

We re seeking an experienced DevOps engineer to own the build-and-run lifecycle of our cloud-native applications and data pipelines on Microsoft Azure. You ll design and codify infrastructure, craft resilient GitHub Actions workflows, and champion security, observability, and automation across multiple engineering teams. Deep Azure expertise is essential; familiarity with AWS or Google Cloud Platform is a welcome bonus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Secure Cloud Architecture Design, provision, and manage Azure resources (AKS, Container Apps, Functions, Storage, Cosmos DB, etc.) with Terraform and GitOps, embedding security controls such as private endpoints, Key Vault-backed secrets, encryption-in-transit/at-rest, and Azure Policy.

  • Container Platform Operations Run production-grade Kubernetes (AKS) clusters; enforce hardened Docker images, network policies, PodSecurityStandards, and RBAC.

  • CI/CD & Release Automation Build and maintain scalable GitHub Actions pipelines for application and data workloads; integrate security scanning, automated testing, and blue-green or canary deployments.

  • Data & Streaming Pipelines Partner with data-engineering teams to containerise and deploy ETL/ELT workflows and real-time streaming services on Azure with secure service-to-service authentication.

  • Observability & Reliability Implement OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana to deliver actionable metrics, traces, and alerts; use SLOs and error budgets to improve MTTR.

  • DevSecOps & Compliance Embed policy-as-code, secret management, image signing, SBOM generation, and least-privilege IAM to meet SOC 2 / ISO 27001 or similar requirements.

  • Collaboration & Mentoring Coach developers and data engineers on Terraform modules, GitOps, pipeline patterns, and secure coding practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • 6 7 years in DevOps, SRE, or Build-and-Release roles with production ownership of cloud-native workloads.

  • Expert-level hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (AKS, networking, IAM, scaling, cost management).

  • Deep knowledge of Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker; proven ability to design reusable IaC modules and enforce container security standards.

  • Demonstrated success building sophisticated GitHub Actions pipelines (matrix builds, reusable workflows, environment promotion) with integrated security scanning.

  • Strong monitoring and tracing skills with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana.

  • Proficiency in Bash and Python scripting for automation and tooling.

  • Solid understanding of cloud security: Azure AD, Key Vault, managed identities, network security groups, encryption strategies, and least-privilege access controls.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for partnering with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Familiarity with AWS or Google Cloud Platform services.

  • Experience operating data platforms such as Kafka, Spark, Databricks, or Azure Synapse.

  • Exposure to Infrastructure-as-Policy tools (OPA/Gatekeeper, Azure Policy) or service meshes (Istio, Linkerd).

  • Generative AI experience building or deploying LLM/AI workloads (e.g., Azure OpenAI, OpenAI API, Hugging Face) and integrating them into secure CI/CD pipelines.

  • Certifications like Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert, CKA, or CKS.
