Overview

Manages a team of System Development Managers (I&II). Responsible for the strategic direction for their application stack, including on-time delivery, quality, system performance and overall availability.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for application design, availability, performance, health, and quality. Lobbies with Product Owner to ensure these items are prioritized correctly. Ownership of understanding of the user experience in their respective applications areas from a performance, availability, processing windows, and errors perspective.
  • Is a key partner with Operational and Product Leadership to provide technical direction and solutions. Responsible for the overall test strategy of the application (automation, regression, performance).
  • Works with Release Engineer to drive Continuous Delivery principles for build, deploy and release.
  • Partners with the Architecture Team to ensure system design is inclusive of the full infrastructure/software stack
  • Partners with Product Owners, Architecture, and the Program Team to help drive the process of qualifying the work and ensuring that the solutions developed are in line with the future product strategy. Experienced in developing the long-term strategy for technology platforms that translate into an achievable roadmap.
  • General management responsibilities for a team of Systems Development Managers, including: Conducts one-on-ones to ensure positive growth, attitude and well-being of each individual, facilitates performance evaluations based on team and individual performance, team feedback and goal achievement, manages the management team by continually managing the weakest performers up, or out of the organization, guides team members to determine appropriate personal development goals and plan for execution.
  • Mentors and coaches team members to improve areas of expertise, interpersonal skills, team collaboration skills, etc.
  • Provides oversight and direction for all application development and testing teams within a Program.
  • Assess team performance through observation in release planning meetings, stand-ups and demos. Course correct the team by providing coaching and guidance through the scrum master and solution lead as necessary.
  • May lead or participate in a Community of Practice (CoP), as needed. Is accountable for performance and cohesion of team in collaboration with the program team.
  • Participates as contributing member of Program or Portfolio Leadership Team. Experienced in scoping and justifying resources and budget needs to senior leaders and finance partners. Monitors team performance against success criteria.
  • Participates in third party vendor discussions, RFPs, SOWs and contract negotiations. Displays a broader set of leadership skills participating outside of their area of expertise in enterprise wide initiatives to achieve IT goals.
  • Acts as Subject Matter Expert (SME) to teams as needed based on technology/application knowledge. Recommends process improvement changes to drive efficiency, productivity and quality
  • Participates in cross cutting discussions technology and process discussions outside of their area of expertise.
  • Participates in third party vendor discussions, RFPs, SOWs and contract negotiations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/MIS - Preferred
  • 5 years of experience in Development manager.
  • 3 years of expereince in Ecommerce - Required
  • Expereince managing and or developing AI Enablement products- Required
  • Experience in Digital Insurance Industry- Highly Preferred

Compensation
In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share that the starting base pay range for this position is $125,695.00 to $197,521.00 annually. Please keep in mind that this range is the base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position. If you are hired at Paychex, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
