Job Description:

Senior Data Analyst - Regulatory Reporting & Content Moderation

Onsite in Redmond, WA 3-4 days onsite/week.

This role is in terms of convenience and collaboration with team, partner with different teams and it would be significant for them to come in in-person. Nature of work is not something they should be isolated doing remotely; lots of partnership

Typical Day in the Role

Purpose of the Team: The purpose of this team is data analytics to gather insights and experiences team for the larger gaming team.

Key projects: This role will be a part of the team that supports safety and compliance regulatory systems. The role will work with the team on emerging regulatory requirements and gathering, processing data per regulations as regulations are updated. Some data that will be handled includes content moderation, player safety data, how the content moderation is working, safety classifications, some end user data, and more. The role will work with stakeholders to gather resources, and build reports for the team. The role will write SQL queries and use various tools including apache spark platform to own end-to-end delivery and tell stories using data. The role will also support infrastructure and collaboration, working with player safety team and collaborating with them and upstream partners to set up processes and collect data points to build dashboards and reports. The role will manage queries independently, advise others on parameters, partner with other internal teams to build a data story around content moderation. The role will also communicate the data story and present this in meetings to stakeholders, and review documentation and advise next steps to stakeholders as well.

Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm: The role will consist of a check in/stand up meeting every day, and various meetings with stakeholders or upstream partners occasionally. The role will be around 20% meetings, 20% data analysis, 50% building code/reports/dashboards, 10% presenting to stakeholders.

Candidate Requirements

Years of Experience Required: 8 overall years of experience in the field.

Degrees or certifications required: A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required to be eligible for this role.

Disqualifiers: Candidates that are not strong presenters or do not have the required skills will not be eligible for the role.

Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain a technical background and a strong background in regulation and moderation. Previous experience in the gaming industry is nice to see. The ideal candidate is a self starter and excels at taking on tasks and driving completion themselves without micromanagement. Previous experience working with partners and stakeholders, strong data analysis, and experience with platforms like Databricks, Apache Spark, etc. is very helpful.

Performance Indicators: Performance will be assessed based on quality of data gathered and ability to support the team.

Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience

1. Minimum 5 years experience with advanced SQL and Python scripting to build and optimize complex queries, preferably with platforms like Databricks, Apache Spark, etc.

2. Minimum 5 years experience with PowerBI producing dashboards and reports

3. Minimum 5 years experience with cross functional teams to gather data, then reporting on and presenting data insights to stakeholders.

This role is essential in helping the organization meet evolving global compliance requirements while ensuring accurate and independent data analysis and reporting safety data.

Job Responsibilities:

Gather, Collate, and Categorize safety-related data from various internal corporate data sources.

Analyze and Interpret data to support safety compliance guidance with international regulatory frameworks.

Interpret for regulatory ACP inquiries and reports (est. at least one per month by end of fiscal year)

Build and maintain queries to extract data for transparency and compliance reports.

Thoroughly understand the regulatory safety frameworks and collaborate with stakeholders to evolve reporting logic in near-real-time as regulations change.

Advise on reporting parameters and ensure alignment with legal and regulatory standards.

Identify and resolve discrepancies in data reporting across systems or platforms.

Ensure consistent and accurate data narratives that reflect the organization's unique context.

Work cross-functionally with internal teams to support data infrastructure and reporting needs.

Represent the organization in meetings and contribute to documentation and process reviews.

Participate in regular check-ins and collaborate on onboarding and training initiatives.

Independently prioritize tasks, plan analyses, and deliver actionable insights.

Present findings and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications:

Education

Bachelors degree in technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required.

8+ years of applicable industry experience required.

Required Skills & Experience

3-5 years of experience with advanced SQL and Python scripting for building, optimizing, and maintaining complex queries.

3 years experience with tools like Power BI or Tableau to create compelling dashboards and reports.

Hands-on experience with data transformation tools (e.g., Databricks, Apache Spark etc.,).

Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis, automation, and scripting.

Experience with APIs and data pipelines for integrating and automating data flows.

Familiarity with Azure cloud-based data ecosystems (e.g., Azure Data Explorer, Cosmos, Azure Data Lake Storage).

Understanding of data warehousing and distributed computing concepts.

Desire to be working with data and help businesses make better data driven decisions.

Preferred Qualifications:

Excellent verbal, visual and written communication skills.

Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.

Experience in data analysis, preferably in a regulatory or compliance setting.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

Self-starter with strong planning and prioritization skills.

Knowledge of global data privacy and safety regulations (e.g.,GDPR).

Experience working with compliance teams or legal frameworks is a plus.

Interest in games or experience in gaming industry is a plus.
