Job Title: Senior Network Engineer
Location: Onsite Philadelphia, PA
Work Hours: Between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM EST (Standard 8 hours Shift)
$80/C2C to $85/hr C2C
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Network Engineer to support and maintain mission-critical Train Control Systems. This role involves managing secure and fault-tolerant network infrastructures, administering RedHat and Windows systems, and ensuring 24/7 availability of control systems across multiple facilities. The engineer will also contribute to hardware/software upgrades, network security, and operational documentation.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead technical analysis, design, and implementation of Train Control System enhancements.

Ensure 24/7 availability of network infrastructure across four Train Control System facilities.

Configure, administer, and maintain RedHat and Windows systems.

Plan and implement OS, hardware, and software upgrades.

Configure and support routers, switches, and firewalls.

Develop and monitor network security policies and practices.

Create and maintain operating and troubleshooting procedures.

Provide emergency system and network support on a 24/7 basis.

Interface with external technical specialists for system upgrades and problem resolution.

Document network architecture and administrative procedures.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

7+ years of experience with real-time SCADA control systems and operations.

7+ years of experience in networking, workstation, and server OS administration.

Strong knowledge of multi-platform system configuration and maintenance.

Experience with full lifecycle hardware/software projects.

Expertise in network design and maintenance (switches, routers, firewalls).

Proficiency in RedHat and Windows security practices.

Strong communication skills for technical documentation and presentations.

Ability to collaborate with diverse, non-technical stakeholders.

General knowledge of railroad operations, signaling, and electrification concepts.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Master s degree in Computer Science or related field.

10+ years of experience in SCADA systems and multi-platform environments.
Work Environment:
-
Occasional overnight and weekend work for maintenance or upgrades.
-
Scheduled on-call duty during peak or critical periods.

High-pressure response to emergency situations.

Up to 25% travel required.

Access to a virtual desktop set up (software) will be provided by Lumen s client, allowing the user access to the required systems and technology.***
