Job Title: Network System Engineer
Location: Jersey City, NJ
Job Type: W2 Contract(H1 Transfer can apply)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Network System Engineer to design, implement, manage, and support our organization's network infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, high availability, and security of all network systems, both on-premises and cloud-based, while providing technical support to internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Infrastructure:
Design, deploy, and maintain LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless networks.
Configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Ubiquiti).
Monitor network performance and optimize for maximum uptime and reliability.
System Administration:
Administer and maintain Windows/Linux servers, DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory.
Implement and manage virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
Ensure proper backup and disaster recovery procedures.
Security & Compliance:
Monitor and enforce network security policies.
Manage firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPN tunnels.
Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and other network/system-related issues.
Perform patch management and regular updates to systems and firmware.
Document configurations, processes, and network diagrams.
Collaboration & Support:
Work closely with developers, IT support, and security teams.
Provide Level 2/3 support for escalated technical issues.
Participate in infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and cloud transitions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
10+ years of experience in a similar role (for mid-level).
Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, etc.).
Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios).
Proficient in Windows/Linux system administration.
Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) is a plus.
Certifications preferred: CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, MCSA, etc.
Preferred Soft Skills:
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Good communication and documentation abilities.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Time management and multitasking skills.
