Description
We are looking for a skilled Linux Administrator to join our team in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
This is a Contract-to-Permanent position where you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining Linux-based systems to support research-specific computing needs.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in virtualization, storage solutions, and security, and will collaborate closely with various stakeholders to develop scalable, on-premises computing environments.
Must be local, this is an onsite role in Albuquerque.
Responsibilities:
Assess the current computing environment to identify research-specific needs and design optimized system configurations.
Implement and streamline software setups to migrate existing systems to upgraded environments.
Evaluate and select virtualization technologies that align with research and security requirements.
Collaborate with vendors and procurement teams to acquire necessary hardware and software.
Architect and maintain virtualization and storage solutions that support virtual machines with high redundancy.
Design and implement network and security solutions for physical and virtual servers across multiple locations.
Build, manage, and troubleshoot Linux-based virtual machines designed to support research databases.
Ensure systems meet project-specific requirements and adhere to best practices for performance and security.
Provide ongoing maintenance and support for Linux systems, ensuring reliability and scalability.
Perform additional duties as needed to support organizational goals.
Requirements
For immediate consideration please apply:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in Linux system administration.
Proficiency in Red Hat Linux (RHEL) and related technologies.
Strong knowledge of server virtualization tools such as VMware, KVM, and Hypervisor.
Experience with storage and virtualization architecture, including redundancy solutions.
Familiarity with Oracle and research database environments.
Solid understanding of network and security principles for server and storage setups.
Ability to collaborate effectively with vendors and cross-functional teams.
Background in computer programming is a plus.
Background required prior to employment.
