Starting Salary Range: $130,000-$150,000 - position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met.
As a Senior Engineer/Planner - Economic Studies, you will play a pivotal role in analyzing transmission expansions to mitigate energy market inefficiencies through advanced production cost modeling tools. You'll also help shape the grid of the future by developing innovative solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and building strong partnerships with MISO stakeholders.

- Analyze operational scenarios in a simulated environment to identify potential challenges and opportunities.
- Assess the financial advantages for companies exploring MISO membership.
Within your first year as a Senior Engineer/Planner - Economic Studies, success will look like this:
- You demonstrate your ability to lead through economic study work from scope development to results finalization.
- You collaborate seamlessly with stakeholders and team members on data requests, showcasing strong decision-making and leadership skills.
- You create compelling and well-organized materials for presentations at PAC, PSC, RECBWG, and SPM stakeholder meetings.
- You efficiently address external customer inquiries in alignment with MISO processes and policies.
- You demonstrate enthusiasm for learning and growth by actively engaging in stakeholder interactions and seeking mentorship opportunities.
We seek candidates who possess the following qualifications:
- We are looking for talented professionals who hold a bachelor's degree or higher in one of several engineering disciplines. Please refer to the list below for the qualifying degrees.
- Six or more years of experience in electric energy resource planning, energy policy, electric power industry economics, power plant and transmission line modeling, or project management
While not mandatory, the following attributes would be highly desirable:
- PROMOD, PROMOD Analysis Tool (PAT), PSS/E, Transmission Adequacy Reliability Assessment (TARA).
- Related economic transmission planning, compliance, regulatory standards, or expansion planning experience (required) or Related Electric Reliability Organization (ERO) or Regional Reliability Organization (RRO) experience.
