SIS Adminstrator
100% Remote - EST Hours
Competitive Compensation

We are seeking an experienced SIS (Student Information Systems) Administrator to support the national expansion of our client's K-12 virtual public charter schools by administering and enhancing their Student Information Systems. This individual will play a key role in managing SIS operations across both online and brick-and-mortar schools (approximately 100+ schools), ensuring seamless integration, compliance, and functionality.

As a SIS Administrator, you will work with a collaborative, dynamic team motivated by building a leading education company empowering students to obtain education anywhere/in any environment necessary for the purpose of driving such a powerful mission to make education available to all.

Your role will focus on technical configurations, data accuracy, compliance, and integrating critical systems to support the unique needs of each school.

Key Responsibilities
  • SIS Implementation & Support:
    • Oversee the implementation and integration of SIS for new schools while providing operational support for existing schools and systems.
    • Manage data migrations, complex mapping, and the integration of external systems into the SIS.
  • System Administration:
    • Administer PowerSchool and other SIS platforms (e.g., Maestro).
    • Conduct routine system maintenance, updates, and server operations.
    • Monitor system performance to ensure reliability, availability, and security.
    • Support integration with state-specific reporting systems, ensuring compliance with federal/state regulations.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Write complex SQL queries to generate reports for state and school administrators.
    • Create and maintain custom reports, plugins, and integrations within PowerSchool.
    • Manage APIs for third-party tools and ensure seamless interoperability with LMS platforms (e.g., Canvas).
  • Compliance & Reporting:
    • Set up direct connect interfaces to state systems and manage compliance submissions.
    • Develop validation rules to ensure adherence to state-specific educational requirements.
    • Oversee standards-based grading, transcripts, graduation plans, and related data.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Partner with enrollment, development, and school teams to identify data mapping needs and operational improvements.
    • Train school administrators and staff on SIS updates, end-of-year rollovers, and new features.
    • Support initiatives for Special Education (e.g., PSSP, Samegoal) and career readiness programs (e.g., Naviance, Panorama).
  • Project Management:
    • Assist with system-wide projects, including launching new schools, grade calculations, and configuring SIS for updated state laws.
    • Collaborate with teams to ensure accurate and efficient setup of new functionalities and state-specific requirements.

Qualifications

Required:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Education, or a related field.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in SIS administration, with a focus on PowerSchool.
  • Expertise in data analysis, system configurations, and integrations (e.g., plugins, APIs).
  • Knowledge of SQL and the ability to create custom enterprise reports.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage short/long-term projects under pressure.
  • Experience in an education setting or similar environment (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proficient verbal/written English communication.
  • Flexible work schedule to address service issues outside normal hours.

Preferred/Plus:
  • Advanced PowerSchool experience:
    • Custom pages, reports, plugins, registration, scheduling, grading, APIs, PowerTools, and Parent/Student portals.
    • Expertise in EOY procedures, report card setup, and integrations with LMS (e.g., Canvas).
  • Experience managing federal/state reporting data submissions and compliance.
  • Familiarity with Special Education systems (e.g., PSSP, Samegoal) and career/college readiness platforms (e.g., Naviance, Panorama).
  • Technical proficiency in SQL, DBA, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Experience collecting and analyzing raw data across multiple departments/systems.

Why Join Us?
  • 100% Remote role with the flexibility to work EST hours.
  • Join a collaborative team of 8-9 SIS administrators, each supporting 5-6 schools, providing an opportunity to work within a supportive environment rather than as a sole administrator.
  • Make a meaningful impact on education by supporting the compliance and operational success of schools nationwide.
