Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled Database Engineer to join our team across multiple locations. This position focuses on maintaining high-performance, scalable, and reliable database systems. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of SQL and is proficient with various database technologies such as DB2, Oracle, and Sybase. They will play a critical role in ensuring database observability, reliability, and performance, while actively collaborating with development and infrastructure teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Implement observability using tools like APM tools, log aggregators, and metrics monitoring systems.

  • Define and monitor SLAs, SLOs, SLIs, and manage error budgets to uphold system reliability standards.

  • Ensure availability, scalability, and optimal performance of all database environments.

  • Design, build, and maintain core database infrastructure.

  • Optimize data storage, queries, and configurations to support high-throughput applications.

  • Analyze SQL query plans, identify bottlenecks, and suggest enhancements.

  • Improve query performance and overall database efficiency through code and configuration tuning.

< data-start="1629" data-end="1679">Incident Management & Root Cause Analysis</>
  • Lead the response for database-related incidents and outages.

  • Conduct blameless postmortems and implement action items to improve system resilience.

< data-start="1842" data-end="1874">Collaboration & Support</>
  • Work in close collaboration with application developers, infrastructure teams, and SREs.

  • Offer database insights and support across all phases of the software development lifecycle.


Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience with SQL and familiarity with DB2, Oracle, Sybase, and similar platforms.

  • Proficient in query optimization and interpreting query execution plans.

  • Solid understanding of database observability tools and performance monitoring best practices.

  • Proven expertise in managing and scaling enterprise-grade database systems.

  • Experience with incident response and conducting root cause analyses.

  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical issues clearly.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

  • Experience working in high-availability, high-throughput environments.

  • Knowledge of SRE practices and modern DevOps/database operations.
