Description
We are looking for a skilled Packaging Engineer to join our client's team in the Burlington MA area. In this role, you will design, develop, and implement innovative packaging solutions for Lighting, Energy Solutions, and Solar Technology products across various markets. This position requires creativity, technical expertise, and strong collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure packaging systems meet quality and sustainability standards. Please note that this is a hybrid position requiring three days a week in the office. Salary is 100-120K depending on experience.
Responsibilities:
Develop and test packaging systems, including primary, secondary, and tertiary solutions, for consumer, industrial, and specialty markets.
Collaborate with stakeholders to create and maintain packaging specifications, bills of materials, and related documentation.
Produce prototypes and mock-ups to support sales initiatives, customer reviews, and planogram strategies.
Conduct benchmarking analysis and lead cost reduction projects to improve packaging efficiency and reduce materials and labor costs.
Create graphic specifications for branded and non-branded corrugated packaging components using company documentation standards.
Design sustainable packaging solutions that align with global sustainability goals, focusing on reducing foam and plastic usage.
Manage product transitions by replicating existing packaging or providing alternative solutions to ensure compliance and minimize risk of damage.
Identify and resolve packaging quality issues, ensuring vendor compliance and reducing logistical challenges.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in consumer and retail packaging.
Expertise in packaging design validation processes, including development, testing, and specification.
Strong knowledge of packaging materials and converting processes for folding cartons, corrugated components, and other materials.
Experience conducting packaging performance and product fragility testing using industry standards.
Proficiency with packaging engineering software such as Esko Artios, Tops, MaxLoad, Adobe Illustrator, and other relevant applications.
Advanced mechanical aptitude and ability to create prototypes for both automated and manual packaging processes.
Strong organizational and computer skills, including proficiency in Office Suite and Adobe Workfront.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
