Purpose of the Position

As a hands-on leader, design and develop technologies for data engineering, data operations, observability, data strategies and processes to support the organization's current and future data requirements and meet business goals and objectives. Enhance data security, define data architecture, software systems, and the roadmap to obtain, store, integrate, and manage corporate data. Establishes data governance standards and policies and develops data management guidelines that will ensure data accuracy, data quality, reliability, and security. Adheres to data privacy regulations to ensure sensitive data is protected. Studies and evaluates emerging technologies to enhance data, GenAI and ML capabilities and operations. Manage all aspects of data engineering including data acquisition, integration, transformation, core operational and functional oversight of day-to-day data processing, quality control, and supports internal customers with data as an asset. Responsible for developing and testing architectures that enable data extraction and transformation for predictive or prescriptive modeling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage data engineering initiatives, ensuring successful execution of programs, projects, and cross-functional teams.
  • Design and implement data strategies that align with corporate strategy, focusing on enterprise data and BI activities.
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to analyze complex business problems and create actionable solutions.
  • Drive efficiencies by streamlining, data architecture and operations, comprehensive documentation, and other processes.
  • Enforce data governance standards.
  • Establish observability framework, along with thorough documentation for continuous support for the data environment.
  • Enhance regulatory and compliance capabilities with strengthened data security, to boost reliability and efficiency.
  • Guide the company s data technology strategy, ensuring cost-effective and efficient data delivery.
  • Support the professional development of the data engineering team while fostering collaboration across Cloud Ops, IT, and other departments.
  • Possess skills with Predictive analytics, Machine learning and utilize advanced SQL and Python skills to develop, optimize, and maintain data pipelines, analytics, and ETL processes.
  • Plan, design, implement, and maintain data storage environments to facilitate organization s data needs.
  • Coordinate with the appropriate subject matter experts to obtain assistance to resolve issues within the organization.
  • Maintain responsibility for properly implementing data retention plans and litigation holds, working closely with Cybersecurity, CloudOps, Compliance, and Legal.
  • Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive and provide continuous performance feedback to employees.
  • Regular, reliable attendance during normal business hours.
  • In-person attendance and travel as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university with a major in Computer Science, Engineering, or other similar degree in the science, math, technology, or engineering disciplines OR four (4) or more Cloud computing, Data Engineering experience in lieu of education Plus:
    • Seven (7) or more years of experience managing Data Engineering in a production environment.
    • Five (5) or more years of experience managing a team in a Data Management activity as a lead engineer, director, or in a similar senior-level position in a Data Management department.

Preferred:

  • Master of Science degree from an accredited university with a major in Computer Science, Engineering, or other similar degree in the science, math, technology, or engineering disciplines OR a Master of Business Administration degree from an accredited university.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods in a stationary seated position, such as working on a computer.
  • Ability to differentiate wire and cable colors and various audible tones.
