A financial technology firm based in Downtown Chicago is seeking a full-time Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to support its high-performance, low-latency trading infrastructure. The organization delivers a cloud-native, analytics-driven platform for algorithmic execution and real-time market data. This is a hybrid position following an initial 6-month onsite requirement. Candidates within 30 miles of the office are expected onsite 3 days a week (Tuesdays required); those outside 30 miles must be available on Tuesdays.
This is a unique opportunity for a highly technical, ops-focused SRE to step into a critical infrastructure role within a trading tech environment. The team is looking for someone who can take ownership of bare metal servers, improve automation, support deployment workflows, and contribute to infrastructure stability and scalability. Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience with bare metal infrastructure (100-200 servers)
- Proficiency with Ansible and infrastructure automation
- Deep understanding of monitoring systems (Grafana, Prometheus)
- Background in systems engineering (Linux or general IT acceptable)
- Experience working in SRE or ops-heavy environments
- Comfort with scripting/automation tools (Python, Go)
- Willingness to participate in weekly on-call rotations (including after-hours and weekends as needed)
- Must live within 30 miles of the office (3 days/week onsite) or be available on Tuesdays
Desired Skills & Experience
- Exposure to HashiStack tools (Nomad, Vault)
- Familiarity with trading systems or FinTech infrastructure
- Experience supporting C# application environments
- Strong communication skills and ability to support developers and engineering leadership
- Ability to explain system behavior and monitoring insights to technical stakeholders
