Primary Function of Position

The Service Production Controller Planner III supports the reprocessing manufacturing actives in the Service department. This position requires a detailed and creative individual to support troubleshooting as well improvements, and modifications. This will require collaborating with various teams in Service, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality and Finance to meet forecast build and repair schedules. The position requires a creative and flexible individual with a mastery of ERP systems, and an elevated level of experience in a manufacturing and support function. This position requires strong analytical skills, detailed communication, along with being a collaborator, initiative-taker, and having a can-do attitude.

The Service Production Planner III will be assigned critical NPI/Sustaining projects to manage, seek out and recommend process improvements, assist in developing planning team members skill sets, and take on leadership responsibilities for strategic planning activities that enable the department capabilities to scale to the growing business needs. The candidate will work with multiple cross-functional teams to achieve both tactical and strategic goals assigned by fully understanding production demand, supply needs, balancing operational goals while incorporating Lean Manufacturing principles, identifying and driving issue to resolution and continuous improvement opportunities with other departments.

Essential Job Duties

Manage assigned NPI/Sustaining projects at both strategic and tactical levels. Evaluate current process and recommend continuous improvement to evolve the process. Takes ownership of new products during the pilot production phase through successful and sustained project launch. This includes driving new product introduction schedules, resolving manufacturability issues, and driving improvements for cost and efficiency.

Lead and support department or organizational projects. Gain project team consensus, track and monitor scope, scope changes, project plan timelines against phase review goals, variances, and contingencies that surface during the implementation of projects. Escalate where necessary to management.

Engage Manufacturing teams in the continuous improvement process to ensure assigned projects are identified, prioritized, and implemented in a timely and effective manner.

Collaborate with Purchasing and Engineering to review proposed changes to establish Engineering Change Order (ECO) affectivity. Execute ECO implementation requirements.

Identify potential supply risks and inventory exposures by aligning supply chain processes with production plan milestones and targets. Illuminate impact to supply continuity for Finished Goods Inventory (FGI). Perform capacity analysis to support what-if scenarios, forecast changes, and plan for production growth.

Maintain and develop of department metrics; analyze trends and results. Drive corrective actions where needed.

Develop and support countermeasures to address root causes for Work Order Error issues.

Review and understand all production order processing operations in compliance with Quality and Inventory Control requirements.

Support UAT testing in ERP system.

Maintain accurate MRP (SAP) parameters for responsible product lines.

Provide tactical training to team members. This includes creating and/or updating work instructions (WI). Provide mentorship through tactical training to team members to improve their skill sets in NPI and Sustaining planning. Lead efforts to create and updating work instructions (WI) and Departmental Operating Procedures (DOP).

Resolve work order variances and determine root cause.

Job Qualifications

Minimum 4 years of experience in a progressive manufacturing environment, 4-year degree preferred in Business Management, previous medical device manufacturing experience highly desirable.

Demonstrate the ability to operate in a regulated industry with working knowledge of ISO and regulatory restrictions.

Minimum 2 years of experience in operating/evolving planning systems such as SAP, 09, Adexa, JDA, or Kinaxis.

Experience in Production Planning or Project Management is a required qualification.

Understanding of business information systems, and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications.

Presents ideas effectively in formal and informal situations. Conveys thoughts clearly and concisely verbally and written communication.

Ability to respond to detailed inquiries, and present information to groups and senior management.

Advanced ERP experience troubleshoots IT issues that surface, and lead in department customization of the ERP systems in support of business needs.

Ability to perform with greater independence and judgment, receiving general supervision from senior management.

Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues that surface with little to no assistance from business applications.

APICS & Six Sigma certifications a plus.
