Description
IT Operations Infrastructure ("On-Prem") Architect to bring alignment across teams and ensure solutions are designed correctly. In the past, there has been a lack of coordination, with different teams working in silos. The goal now is to have someone who can bridge those gaps and drive more cohesive, strategic execution.
The top candidates for this role will have strong experience with infrastructure design and strategy, cloud migration and optimization, and security and risk management integration. Candidates with experience in networking and systems engineering (storage, VMware) will stand out. The architect will be interfacing between stakeholders and engineers across systems engineering, network engineering, database teams, etc. so will need to have strong communication and collaboration.
Banking, financial, or other regulated industry (healthcare) experience strongly preferred. Because of all of the regulations and how things need to be designed, needs to be able to explain anything they design to auditors. The financial/regulated industry is essentially required. Experience in small to mid size organizations may serve them better, as they should have broad knowledge and experience (as opposed to siloed/specialization that sometimes happens in larger orgs).
OVERVIEW
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Infrastructure Architect to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will design, develop, and oversee the implementation of infrastructure solutions. As a technical lead, you will collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that system designs align with business objectives while maintaining seamless integration, security, and optimal performance throughout the organization. The ability to provide strategic direction for infrastructure operation initiatives is essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide guidance, leadership and technical expertise for all IT infrastructure initiatives.
- Architect, design and deliver highly available, reliable and cost-effective infrastructure solutions for business needs.
- Obtain requirements from end users, department heads, or other IT teams.
- Architect, solution and perform POC (Proof of Concept) testing and documentation.
- Initiate, facilitate and promote activities to foster IT infrastructure discoveries.
- Initiate, facilitate and promote activities to foster effective Risk Management awareness, including disaster avoidance, change and problem management.
- Develop cloud migration strategies to guarantee a smooth and uninterrupted transition from on-premises infrastructures to cloud-based environments.
- A comprehensive understanding of cloud resource utilization efficiency is essential, which involves implementing auto-scaling strategies effectively and recommending cost-saving measures.
- Work with information security teams to create and apply cloud security best practices, incorporating extensive knowledge of cloud networking, firewalls, and encryption policies.
- Collaborate with DevOps to optimize CI/CD pipelines and maintain agile-compatible cloud infrastructure. Utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible for the automated provisioning of cloud resources.
- Proficient in analyzing and troubleshooting issues in distributed cloud infrastructure.
