Casting Design Engineer
Job Details
Job Title: Casting Design Engineer or Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Southfield, MI
Job Duties:
- Design and develop ductile iron casting components as per customer standards and specifications.
- Study packaging space, hard points, machining & assembly requirements.
- Define casting parting plane & parting line for the cast components.
- Coordinate with FEA team & providing necessary testing related inputs.
- Review FEA results & provide / implement design improvement solutions.
- Coordinate with casting & machining plants for design feasibility.
- Use CATIA & UG NX software for component design and modelling.
- Prepare casting models for mass optimization using software (Inspire).
- Perform tolerance stack-up analysis for assembly fitments.
- Prepare detailed machining drawings and assembly drawings using 2D and 3D software (CATIA, UG NX) and release per Grede LLC processes.
- Ensure design optimization throughout entire product design cycle.
