Title: Business Analyst
Employment: Contract
Location: Remote/Hybrid in NYC
Compensation: $50-$58/hour (+ access to Medical Benefits, PTO, & 401k)
Position Summary
The Business Analyst, IT provides direct support to IT teams by assisting the Project Manager in the development of materials for planning and executing IT projects. With guidance from a Project Manager, the Business Analyst supports all aspects of projects from start to finish, with particular emphasis on requirements development and project quality activities. The Business Analyst may occasionally serve as the project lead on smaller, well-defined projects or provide support to IT Managers during project initiation.
Essential Responsibilities
Support a manageable portfolio of projects from start to finish in accordance with organizational IT policies and processes; produce clear, detailed project scoping and design documentation for technical teams.
Elicit and develop clear, traceable requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, task and workflow analysis.
Critically evaluate information from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to general understanding, and distinguish user requests from underlying true needs.
Challenge business units on assumptions regarding execution plans.
Collaborate with developers, architects, subject matter experts, and other IT team members to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
Assist in developing business cases, considering financial, resource, and technological constraints; develop cost estimates while evaluating business impacts and risks.
Ensure approved requirements are sufficiently detailed to result in the delivery of solutions that meet customer needs.
Communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver artifacts such as Functional Requirements and Technical Requirements, including architecture, interfaces, security, and business continuity.

Minimum Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline; OR High School Diploma/GED with at least four (4) years of relevant work experience.
1+ year experience supporting projects with business and IT components.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to interact professionally with stakeholders at all levels.
Demonstrated technical and analytical ability.
Ability to review, consolidate, communicate, and reverse-engineer complex technical and systems documentation.
Working knowledge of risk management and quality assurance standards and methodologies.
Experience with statistical and other quantitative and qualitative analytical methodologies.
Authorization to work in the US required; position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
Knowledge of project management and development methodologies (PMBOK, MSF, SEI, Agile, RUP, etc.).
Strong analytical and basic project management skills; able to interpret business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills; able to motivate and influence others and contribute to a positive team environment.
Strong customer service ethic; understands how IT delivers value to the business.
Ability to work in a dynamic environment and embrace change initiatives.
Knowledge of technology fundamentals and concepts, including Microsoft technologies.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Effective time management and prioritization skills.
Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) preferred
