Job Details

Job Title: Database Administrator / Developer
Duration: 6 Months (High probability of conversion to full-time after completion)
Location: 90% Remote | 10% Onsite - [Minneapolis, MN]


Position Overview

The Database Administrator / Developer will be responsible for upgrading, maintaining, and optimizing SQL database systems within an enterprise environment. This role requires a strong background in SQL Server administration, data platform technologies, and database performance tuning. The ideal candidate will collaborate with IT teams and stakeholders to ensure stable, secure, and high-performing data systems that support business applications and services.


Key Responsibilities

  • Upgrade and maintain Microsoft SQL Database Systems to the latest supported releases.

  • Monitor, manage, and optimize database performance and reliability.

  • Assist IT teams and internal customers with ITIL-based incidents and service requests related to databases, data access, and data management.

  • Manage SQL Database Systems in Microsoft Windows, Network, and Microsoft 365 environments.

  • Serve as a key infrastructure contact for application and cloud upgrade projects.

  • Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance across systems.

  • Participate in performance tuning, backup/recovery, and capacity planning activities.


Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of Microsoft SQL Servers in an enterprise environment.

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with SQL technologies, including Always On Availability Groups (AOAG) and replication.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with Microsoft 365 data platforms.

  • Strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively within technical teams.

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.


Preferred Attributes

  • Proficiency with performance monitoring and troubleshooting tools.

  • Familiarity with data migration, cloud integration, and hybrid environments.

  • Strong understanding of security and compliance standards for enterprise databases.

  • Experience participating in IT infrastructure or modernization projects.
