Raytheon's Air & Space Defense Systems (ASDS) strategic business unit (SBU) specializes in multi-domain integrated air and missile defense, advanced sensors, space-based systems, hypersonics, effectors and cyber solutions. Focused on program execution, business growth and the highest level of customer satisfaction, the ASDS team provides customers with unmatched capabilities of detection and sensing, command and control, and air-to-air, air-to-surface, and surface-to-air munitions to accomplish air, space and missile defense missions. Strike Initiatives, within ASDS, is our sub-strategic business unit focused on air-launched, penetrating effectors that provide highly versatile tactical capabilities and enable global strategic deterrence.

The Raytheon Engineering Technology team is seeking a Technology Director for the Strategic Strike (SS) Portfolio, within our Strike Initiatives (SI) Sub-Strategic Business Unit (SSBU). This strategic technology leader is passionate about the effective application of principled engineering practices to deliver world-class product technologies and solutions to our commercial and defense customers. The successful candidate must exhibit an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness; and will apply and develop highly advanced technologies, scientific principles, theories, and concepts and is viewed within the company and the customer community as an expert in technologies.

What You Will Do
  • Develop and maintain the product area roadmaps that supports the Long-Range Plan and future revenue growth, technical aspects of business pursuit or core growth strategies, and is focal point for technology transition into the SS portfolio.
  • Drive technology innovation relevant to the business area and new business capture efforts. This includes responsibility for the Technical Solution, identification of technical discriminators, identifying potential teammates / suppliers.
  • Execute technical strategies, including company investment activities, to drive product improvements
  • Leverage Operations Analysis to demonstrate value stream to the customer and shape opportunities
  • Collaborate with the other SI portfolio Technology Directors to develop end to end solutions
  • Achieve synergies in technology, products, and/or capabilities beyond the SS portfolio
  • Interface with customers to maintain or build strategic partnerships

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience leading cross functional and technical teams to deliver development systems
  • Proposal authorship experience
  • Technical leadership experience over multi-disciplined teams with cost and schedule accountability
  • Active and transferable Top Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain special program access after start.

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience briefing senior government officials on programmatic and technical topics
  • Existing customer relationships related to relevant programs within the SS portfolio
  • Experience as a technical leader through all lifecycle phases
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Multiple publications and US Patents
  • Experience as a Principle Investigator or individual contributor on IRAD projects with demonstrated ability to mature critical technology
  • Knowledgeable about the Federal Acquisition Process and experience shaping requirements

The salary range for this role is 147,000 USD - 295,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
