Job Title: FPGA Design Engineer
Location: Sunnyvale, CA
Duration: 12 Months

Summary:
Join our Customer s revolutionary Customer s Prototyping Team to drive end-to-end FPGA design for high-impact AR/VR hardware prototypes. Own the RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog) path from idea to rapid, interactive demo collaborating closely with hardware, firmware, and optics/software teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner cross-functionally (EE, SW/FW, Research, Design) to translate user experience goals and technical concepts into FPGA prototype designs
  • Lead RTL development, simulation, synthesis, bring-up, and board-level debug with tools (ModelSim, Questa, logic analyzer, oscilloscope)
  • Integrate, test, and iterate FPGA-based subsystems supporting early hardware proof-of-concepts (PoCs)
  • Develop and refine custom communications protocols (I2C, UART, SPI, I2S, USB, MIPI, PCIe, etc.) within digital circuit systems
  • Document specs, verification plans, and performance test results to inform next stages of productization
  • Independently manage multiple parallel projects, consistently deliver against tight timelines
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior engineers and outside design/test resources
  • Identify opportunities to improve design tools, flows, and prototype effectiveness

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
  • 8+ years FPGA design (RTL, simulation, bring-up, debug, system integration)
  • Deep expertise with Verilog and SystemVerilog, hands-on with ModelSim/Questa
  • Board-level digital circuit design, communications protocol integration
  • Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills
  • Proven success in multi-disciplinary (EE, FW, SW) hardware/software development teams

Preferred:

  • Streaming video (MIPI, AXI) and camera/optical system integration
  • Scripting (TCL, Python); team leadership/project oversight
  • PoC, NPI or advanced AR/VR hardware buildout experience
  • Familiarity with embedded/real-time and mechanical/optical/electromechanical concepts
