Pay Range - $62/hr - $64/hr
Job Description:
The Senior Manufacturing Fixture Design Engineer will work within the R&D organization and contribute significantly to the development of the next-generation robotic surgical platform. This individual will play a key role in transitioning complex electro-mechanical assemblies from prototype to verification testing and pilot builds, in close coordination with manufacturing engineering. The ideal candidate is an R&D engineer experienced in designing build and test fixtures for medical devices, particularly in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a core team member focused on the design readiness of a robotic surgical platform
- Design and develop production build and test fixtures for complex electromechanical subsystems
- Create fixture documentation including requirements, design descriptions, use instructions, and preventive maintenance procedures
- Perform fixture qualifications and verifications alongside Quality and Manufacturing Engineering
- Support the development of assembly and test processes for capital equipment and disposables
- Develop inspection fixtures and tests for component validation
- Participate in technical and process improvement projects of various scopes
- Generate engineering change orders (ECOs) for the release of fixture and tooling documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage and communicate project progress
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of electromechanical and consumable R&D engineering experience
- Minimum 5 years in the medical device industry
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
- Proficient in SolidWorks and PDM systems
- Strong knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacturing), DFA (Design for Assembly), and DFT (Design for Testing)
- Experience designing, qualifying, and verifying assembly and test fixtures for medical devices
- Background in electromechanical system development
- Experience developing Simulink-based fixtures (required); LabVIEW proficiency desired
- Proven experience in design transfer and new product introduction (NPI)
- Familiarity with fixture and process validation
- Working knowledge of statistical tools and software (e.g., Minitab) preferred
- Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
