We are seeking a Lead Platform Engineer to help our direct client. This is a hybrid position being onsite 3 days per week. Must live within 50 miles of Baltimore MD.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaboratively establish availability and performance objectives, measure progress towards those objectives, and implement necessary changes.
  • Interpret changing technical and process needs of product teams and adjusting platform and tooling to meet those needs.
  • Be Subject Matter Expert with Test Driven Development (TDD) and Agile methodologies.
  • Advise on and provide alternative (out of the box) solutions.
  • Provide hands-on technical configuration and development.
  • Provide thought leadership and mentoring to the team.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in observability, site reliability, or cloud infrastructure roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS and Azure cloud services, including native monitoring and logging tools (e.g., CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Azure Monitor, Azure Log Analytics).
  • Proficiency with observability stacks and APM tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic stack, OpsRamp, OpenTelemetry or closely aligned tools.
  • Solid understanding of containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration tools.
  • Experience with automation and scripting (Python, Bash, Terraform, Ansible, or similar).
  • Deep knowledge of system performance tuning, incident management, and root cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Desired Skills:

  • Certifications in AWS (e.g., Solutions Architect) and/or Azure (e.g., Azure Administrator or Solutions Architect).
  • Experience with serverless and hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Knowledge of security and compliance monitoring in cloud environments.
  • Background in software development or SRE.
