Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) Systems Engineer to provide Senior-level IT systems engineering support to the Advanced Tecnologies Branch, which is within the t he S pecial Programs Division (AFLCMC/HNJ) and located at Hanscom AFB, MA.

The Advanced Technologies Branch (HNJT) provides effective and secure Special Access Program (SAP) Enterprise IT solutions; delivering modern and trusted Enterprise IT systems to the DAF SAP community.

WORK LOCATION: Hanscom AFB, MA

JOB STATUS: Full time; salaried

SECURITY CLEARANCE: A Top Secret security clearance is required

RESPONSBILITIES:
  • Plan and conduct systems engineering, engineering analyses, trade studies and feasibility assessments in support of IT systems engineering activities.
  • Perform program reviews to evaluate alternative proposed plans, systems engineering programs, design and test results to assure that required subsystem and system performance is achieved.
  • Participate in system design and architecture development of tactical datalink communication systems.
  • Prepare technical documents which define, specify, and recommend system/subsystem characteristics.
  • Review and provide technical comments on tactical data link specifications and interface documents.
  • Conduct technical investigations in systems design.
  • Provide engineering support services and inputs to program and project risk management activities in compliance with AF SEAM processes.
  • Support Program Management Reviews (PMR), Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM), Test Meetings.
  • Perform engineering drawing reviews for conformance with requirements, specifications, regulations, and quality control.
  • Provide system engineering solutions based on systems analyses, advanced technology processing techniques, engineering research, and evaluation of all aspects of system engineering.
  • Implement Digital Engineering, Digital Thread, Digital Twin techniques across system Lifecycles.
  • Develop technical reports, make recommendations to Project/Program leadership.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BA/BS degree in engineering and 15 years of experience (5 DoD)
  • Knowledge and experience with the development and/or integration of electro/optical and infrared (EO/IR) systems is required.
  • Broad theoretical and practical knowledge of IT systems engineering as it applies to the acquisition process.
  • Experience using/managing both DOORS and Cameo systems.
  • Experience with implementing Digital Engineering, Digital Thread, Digital twin techniques and protocols.
  • Must have an active US Security Clearance.
