Job Details

The base salary for this position is dependent upon experience and location.

Location: Boston, MA (Office)

Salary range: $98,785.00 to $123,482.00

Job Summary

This individual will be responsible for analyzing SCADA data to improve long-term wind farm and wind turbine reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Avangrid's operational fleet on matters related to the above. Investigate failures associated with these components; recommend and support the implementation of corrective measures.
  • Monitor and evaluate operational data to detect short term issues such as unexpected shutdowns, reduced power output or anomalies in temperature, vibration and other variables.
  • Perform long term trend analysis to identify declining reliability and efficiency caused by yaw misalignment, bearing wear (using CMS data), blade issues and other deficiencies.
  • Participate in projects and/or programs designed to increase wind turbine reliability, optimize performance, and reduce operational costs.
  • Develop new software tools and refine existing tools to automate and streamline the process of collecting and analyzing data.
  • Review technical reports (e.g. related to failure analysis and design modifications) from wind turbine and component manufacturers.
  • Create comprehensive presentations and reports for distribution within the wider organization and present the same to both internal and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications
  • Degree in Engineering, Data Science, Renewable Energy or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Advanced computer skills utilizing programming languages such as Python or similar.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook) and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, PI Vision or similar)
  • Experience with instrumentation, measurement systems, and data analysis
  • Possession of comprehensive writing skills for upwards reporting.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Demonstrated record of superior academic and professional performance
  • Ability to work well under pressure of job demands, multi-tasking ability essential
  • Ability to climb 120 meter steel towers and complete GWO safety and sea survival training.
  • Flexibility to travel (less than 10%)
  • Eligible to work in the US

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with data analytics and computer programming
  • Experience with structural analysis and CMS software
  • Experience with the offshore wind industry
  • Postgraduate experience in operation of wind farms, wind turbine design or data science.
