Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.

The Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Virtual Propulsion Engineer (VPE), specializing in Gear Systems, who will be responsible for leading program execution and capability development initiatives related to the design, analysis, and product development of gear systems for automotive gearbox applications. This role will collaborate cross-functionally to drive technical excellence, foster innovation, and ensure the delivery of high-performance gear solutions aligned with propulsion system requirements.

What You'll Do:
  • Design and develop gear systems for propulsion products including drive units, transmissions, and hybrid drive systems
  • Perform gearbox analysis for durability, efficiency, and NVH
  • Develop and enhance CAE capabilities for gear systems, including gears, shafts, bearings, and related components
  • Support product development from early concept through validation and production execution
  • Communicate technical findings effectively to internal and external stakeholders using appropriate media
  • Ensure timely delivery of design solutions that meet quality, cost, and program milestones
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams for integrated design, problem-solving, and system optimization
  • Lead and participate in benchmarking activities for gearbox products and virtual engineering tools

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • 5 years of experience in gear system design and analysis (gears, bearings, shafts, etc.)
  • Proficiency with gear system CAE tools such as LDP, KISSsoft, MASTA, and GSAM/Transmission3D
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
  • 5+ years of experience in gearbox design and analysis for automotive applications
  • Familiarity with vehicle propulsion system design, operation, or testing
  • Experience with structural CAE tools such as Abaqus, Simlab, fe-safe, and nCode
  • Knowledge of optimization tools like Hyperstudy
  • Experience with test-to-model correlation
  • Exposure to AI/ML tools for engineering applications
  • Proficiency in Siemens NX CAD modeling
  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with coursework in structural FEA

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week {or other frequency dictated by their manager}. This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.
