Job Description

As an Infrastructure Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within Infrastructure Platforms team, you will be a key member of an agile team responsible for designing and delivering market-leading event streaming technology products. Your focus will be on ensuring these products are secure, stable, and scalable.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of Kafka technology, Kafka connect framework, and distributed infrastructure technologies, with the ability to operate in and migrate across public and private clouds.
  • Manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Kafka Clusters, including performance tuning and monitoring health and availability.
  • Ensure the streaming infrastructure platform adheres to firm-wide security and control standards, addressing any drift as a priority.
  • Apply technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to projects of moderate scope.
  • Collaborate with other platforms to architect and implement changes required to resolve issues and modernize the organization and its technology processes.
  • Develops and deploys infrastructure, configuration, and network automation (IAC) for the applications and platforms under your responsibility
  • Troubleshoot complex priority incidents by analyzing upstream/downstream data and systems or technical implications, advising on mitigation actions while balancing communication needs.
  • Contribute to a team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
  • Formal training or certification on infrastructure engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience.
  • Deep knowledge of one or more areas of infrastructure engineering, such as hardware, networking terminology, databases, storage engineering, deployment practices, integration, automation, scaling, resilience, or performance assessments.
  • Experience with database platforms and SQL.
  • Drive to continue developing technical and cross-functional knowledge outside of the product.
  • Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure and multiple cloud technologies, with the ability to operate in public and private clouds (e.g., AWS, Terraform, Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes).
  • Experience working in a large distributed system across a range of technologies, including compute, databases, messaging, observability, and telemetry.
  • Deep knowledge of incident, change, and problem management processes.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
  • Familiarity with CICD processes and technologies (e.g., Jules, Jira).
  • Understanding of authentication and authorization technologies (e.g., OAUTH, Kerberos).
  • Ability to initiate and implement ideas to solve business problems
  • Experience in conducting performance assessments and implementing improvements.
