Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Ruby on Rails Software Engineer to join our team on a long-term contract basis. This role is based in Dublin, Ireland, with a hybrid work model requiring three days onsite per week. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling support escalations, resolving critical support cases, and delivering functionality that hundreds of users depend on. This is a dynamic and impactful role where you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, leverage your expertise, and contribute to innovation and process improvement.

Responsibilities:

• Investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues in Ruby on Rails applications under tight deadlines.
• Serve as a point of escalation for critical customer-facing and internal executive-level support requests, ensuring clear communication and timely resolution.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented Ruby on Rails code.
• Design, develop, and deploy scalable and reliable solutions to address support issues and prevent future occurrences.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., product, engineering, QA) to identify root causes, implement fixes, and improve overall system stability.
• Contribute to the development of tools and processes to improve support efficiency and effectiveness.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
• Proactively identify and address potential performance bottlenecks and scalability issues.
• Effectively communicate technical concepts and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the team's knowledge base.
• Participate in on-call rotation as needed.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional experience in Ruby on Rails development, with a strong understanding of Rails best practices and design patterns.
• Experience handling critical customer-facing and internal executive-level escalations, demonstrating strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience designing, building, and deploying highly scalable cloud-based architectures (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
• Proficiency with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., Redis, MongoDB).
• Familiarity with DevOps principles and tools, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation).

Pay Range: $60-65/ hr

The specific compensation for this position will be determined by several factors, including the scope, complexity, and location of the role, as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
