Automation & Controls Engineer II Location: Phenix City, Alabama, United States
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Automation & Controls Engineer II to join our manufacturing facility. This role is focused on electrical systems and control schemes, particularly for automation projects. You ll work closely with the plant leadership team, support ongoing operations, and contribute to new projects and future growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain safety, product quality, and manufacturing effectiveness through daily troubleshooting.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with environmental and safety policies.
Collaborate with plant leadership to create and implement operational visions and goals.
Support plant HR, IT, and safety functions including security and camera systems.
Document systems thoroughly, propose efficiency improvements, and standardize processes.
Participate in daily management meetings and other staff-level discussions.
Occasionally work alternate schedules as needed to complete projects.
Required Qualifications:
MUST HAVE: Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
3+ years of experience in control systems engineering within a continuous or discrete manufacturing environment.
Strong proficiency with Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, and robotics (ABB, Fanuc, etc.).
Knowledge of NFPA 70E electrical safety standards.
Proven problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Cognex Vision Systems, Wonderware, or Genetec.
Lean/Six Sigma experience.
Knowledge of AutoCAD or Visio.
Experience with ISO or structured operating system models.
Compensation & Benefits:
Base Salary: $96,900 $125,000
Full-time with benefits
Relocation assistance possible for ideal candidates
Bonus potential: 10%
Occasional travel may be required
