Role Summary

Client is seeking a Senior Passive Safety Engineer (CAE) to support structural analysis and optimization efforts that enhance vehicle safety performance. In this highly impactful role, you will conduct advanced CAE simulations, evaluate structural integrity, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and compliance in vehicle safety design. You ll operate with growing autonomy, applying deep technical expertise to solve complex engineering challenges while actively contributing to process improvements and advanced methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis using CAE tools (especially LS-Dyna) to assess vehicle and component performance in accordance with FMVSS, IIHS, NCAP, and international safety standards.
  • Collaborate with design engineering and functional teams to refine and validate structural designs.
  • Develop, validate, and continuously improve CAE models to ensure predictive accuracy and enable data-driven decisions.
  • Analyze both simulation and physical test results to identify structural performance issues and make actionable recommendations.
  • Drive the execution of virtual, component, and vehicle-level test plans in alignment with the Design Verification Plan (DVP).
  • Independently manage assigned projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to engineering performance targets.
  • Contribute to automation efforts using scripting and programming to streamline CAE processes and reduce turnaround time.
  • Support pre-test predictions, instrumentation selection, post-test analysis, and correlation of CAE models with physical test results.
  • Communicate technical insights clearly to both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders, promoting cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in structural CAE analysis, with proficiency in LS-Dyna.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle structural design principles, especially in safety-critical applications.
  • Ability to work independently on technically challenging projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify design trends and propose data-driven solutions.
  • Effective communicator capable of presenting complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Proactive mindset with a continuous improvement approach to methodologies and tools.
  • Experience with scripting/programming for CAE automation is highly desirable.
