Job Description
Basic Purpose
Provides technical engineering services to support the company's natural gas delivery system. Responsible for planning, design, project management, and administration of all phases of project additions or modifications. Delivers solutions and recommendations for a variety of technical issues and customer requests.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plans, budgets, develops, and designs gas distribution system improvements and modifications. Provides engineering and project management services for all phases of a project to include scoping, estimating, scheduling, design, preparation of construction drawings, specifications and contracts, materials procurement, cost tracking, variance analysis, problem solving, troubleshooting, and recordkeeping. Conducts economic analyses and feasibility studies for various gas system proposals.
Researches, develops and updates design, material and construction standards and processes for all types of gas distribution facilities. Evaluates new technologies, materials and work methods that may be added or incorporated into standards. Analyzes a variety of operational technical issues to deliver sound, practical, cost-effective solutions to a wide variety of non-standard gas design, construction. Investigates process and material failures, participates in root cause analysis investigations.
Provides professional customer service to both internal and external requestors.
Keeps informed of industry trends, policies, technical issues, and best practices in order to recommend and implement changes to benefit gas delivery business. Interacts with industry peers to maintain and develop best practices applicable to construction and material standards and specifications.
Provides technical leadership, training, oversight, and direction to fellow staff members.
Ensures all decisions and recommendations are consistent with Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration Part 192 and NV Energy's Operations and Maintenance Manual, as well as applicable industry standard specifications.
Participate in after-hours emergency response program as a Duty Supervisor.
Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited school and 5 years years industry experience as a practicing engineer, and must be a licensed PE. If no PE license then must have 8+ years as a practicing engineer.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated knowledge of:

MS Office applications, AutoCAD, mapping, database software, and Internet.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
General office environment with some field work for supervision of projects, programs, or emergency response.
This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT) under the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA). Any applicant/employee who will perform on a pipeline, an operating, maintenance, or emergency response function regulated by Part 192, 193, or 195, will be subject to drug and alcohol testing under the Company's PHMSA drug and alcohol testing programs. Any employment, transfer, or promotion offer made for this position is contingent upon taking and passing a drug test prior to the commencement of the new role. If an applicant/employee fails the drug test, any offer of employment, transfer, or promotion will be revoked.
