Job Title: Data Engineer
Location: Chicago, IL (Onsite – must reside locally)

Client is one of the leading Audit, Tax, and Advisory firms, providing strategy, consulting, operations, and technology services across multiple industries.
Overview:
Client IT organization is building a new Data & Analytics function under the CTO’s office to enable data-driven decision-making through modern data infrastructure, analytics, and AI-driven insights.
The Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructure, enabling efficient data integration, transformation, and delivery across the enterprise.

Note: This is a remote opportunity collaborating with teams in the U.S. and Ireland. Schedule flexibility is required to accommodate cross-time-zone meetings.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop scalable data pipelines (ETL/ELT) from multiple sources.
- Collaborate with data architects, data scientists, and analysts to optimize data models and ensure governance, quality, and security.
- Integrate data from diverse sources — databases, data warehouses, APIs, and external systems.
- Perform data validation, cleansing, aggregation, and transformation for analytics readiness.
- Optimize data processing workflows for performance and scalability.
- Implement data quality checks and ensure consistency, completeness, and accuracy.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data systems and optimize queries and indexing.
- Leverage enterprise data assets to generate actionable insights supporting business decisions.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering and data management disciplines.
- Expertise in data modeling, ETL/ELT, integration, data warehousing, analytics, and governance.
- Strong programming experience in Python, SQL, C#, and/or Java.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Microsoft Azure Data Stack: SQL Server (IaaS/PaaS), Synapse, CosmosDB, HDInsight, Data Factory, Databricks, Power BI, Fabric.
- Informatica Cloud: CIH, DIH, CD MDM, Data Quality.
- Snowflake and other modern data platforms.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to work across time zones and manage competing priorities.
Nice to Have:
- Certifications in any of the above technologies.
- Experience in professional services, consulting, or accounting industries.
- Prior experience in client-facing or managed services environments.
